EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Developed by Francine Shapiro. (Dr. Hardy was trained by Dr. Shapiro in EMDR I and II in the Fall of 1994.)

A good way to think of it: trauma reduction. It makes trauma and horrible feelings less intrusive and less demanding.

Processes distressing life experiences.

Bilateral movement seems to help in processing trauma.

Works on target memories, components of memory, cognitions (thoughts), and combinations of feelings and thoughts.

It works for lots of people!
